"To inspire is to educate;

activism comes from knowledge."

Queer Youth Rises is a nonprofit organization dedicated to tackling misinformation on 2SLGBTQIA-focused (2-spirited, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) topics surrounding youth. Through educational posts, workshops, and resources, Queer Youth Rises aims to inspire 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and allies with fact-based knowledge that will benefit their own wellbeing, encourage action, and stay informed on current events.

Queer Youth Rises began as a way to raise the voices of the youth.

As such, they can express themselves, share their thoughts and experiences,

and become more independent and self-accepting. By focusing on education

and knowledge, we create a trustworthy source of information

for those who want to inspire and advocate for themselves and others.

Our Foundations

Queer Youth Rises was first brought up when Canice Hong, the founder, saw many transphobic comments under social media posts. Realizing that a great deal of people were uneducated and misinformed about the LGBTQ+ community, Canice came up with this idea and presented it to Trevor, the co-founder. Together, along with Destiny, they formed a team of dedicated and motivated team to build Queer Youth Rises to what it is today.

three main pillars

We have three main pillars centred on upholding our core values of Community, Activism, and Education. These values inform and are applied when curating our content and workshops. Queer Youth Rises' three main pillars centre around encouraging discussion around queer education, informing the public of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth issues, and analyzing queer representation in various media (platforms). We strive to revolve our content/initiatives around all levels of community, inspiring students to take action in the real world, and offering different perspectives on the societal and political issues regarding the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

ENCOURAGE discussion around queer education.
